Overvoltage Protection system and Spark Gap Earth Bonding for Phu Tho Petroleum Storage

 

Phu Tho Petroleum Warehouse is located in Viet Tri city, Phu Tho Province. The warehouse is located in a large and empty campus next to the Red River. Due to the characteristics of a large petroleum depot with many tanks, widespread pipelines, and the depot has been equipped an automatic electrical equipment and control system, therefore the possibility at risk of being struck by lightning.

The petroleum depot has invested and continuously upgraded protection systems - in which lightning protection and grounding be given top priority to ensure absolute safety for keeping operations stable.

 

Overvoltage Protection system and Spark Gap Earth Bonding consists of:

 

  1. Lightning protection system to protect for Oil tanks, stations, light poles and cameras. The system applied dissipation technology that is designed by ALLTEC - USA
  2. Surge protectors to protect for the entire AC/DC power system
  3. Surge protectors to protect for the entire control and sensor system
  4. Surge protectors to protect for security camera systems, fire alarms, telephone and internal computer networks
  5. Earthing and equipotential connection system for the entire structure (oil tanks, pipes, lightning protection, electrical safety...)

The surge protection system and spark gap earth bonding have been installed by TAEC. The handover has been excuted since 2018 and the system has remained stable over a period of years.
