DS250E-48DC surge protector is based on varistors matched to the network voltage 48Vdc, the varistors have thermal disconnection devices to control any end-of-life case. DS250E-48DC is designed to protect one line (+ or -), so need to combine two DS250E-48DC to protect equipment connected to DC power supplies from lightning surges.

DS250E-48DC is DIN rail compatible and is connected in parallel on the line to be protected.

Installation

DS250E-48DC surge protectors are connected in parallel on the DC network and must be equipped with external fuses for short-circuit current protection

The total length of parallel connection wires to DC network must be lower than 0.5 m in order not to increase the protection level (Up) provided by the SPD.
Wiring is made by screw connections. On some models, a distribution bus can be used.
The protection wire coming from the SPD must be connected to the bonding bar of the electrical panel. Paralleling the protection wire with phases conductors must be avoided.
Local earthing resistance must be in compliance with the electrical rules.
